Highly commended!

We were quite overwhelmed to receive an email from Wedding Ideas Magazine saying we had been publicly voted to receive an award at their annual event for “best videographer”.

To date the only awards we have received have been from the Institute of Videography, which we are members, for best wedding video. So to be nominated for an award for a wedding magazine’s annual awards was something special.

The awards were on Tuesday 27th January and were held at the exclusive Andaz Hotel, Liverpool Street, London and I must say how well Wedding Ideas Magazine organised it. Emma and Myself arrived at around Midday to be received with a champagne reception. The dining area was dressed just like a wedding breakfast with a pink theme, chair covers, flowers, table decorations and even wedding favours!

Wedding TV were there filming and hosting the event. The awards ranged from many different wedding business categories including best wedding dress, best photographer and best venue. There were three videographers including Diamond Films that were nominated for awards and unfortunately we didn’t win, however, we were there as a nominee so thumbs up for Diamond!

After the awards “Hosted by Ant & Dick from Wedding TV” it was time to mingle and I was able to chat away to many different people including some of the staff from the magazine who were very welcoming.

Well done to 20 20  video www.2020video.tv for winning the videographers award. They were not there to receive the award which is a shame and congratulations to all the other winners, and nominees.

Wedding Video Camerman In The Making?

Jack, Roger's Nephew out on a shooting lesson!

Roger Lowe has started to take his Nephew on some wedding video shoots with him to see how he performs.

His first shoot was a pre wedding engagement ceremony for Ola and Kofi in October 2008.

After watching the rushes, Jack done quite well. First of all and probably most important he could keep the camera steady free hand! Secondly his framing was pretty good. We are not going to let him loose as a second cameraman yet but in time and if Jack enjoys the work then maybe……He will have to improve in his confidence though!

Wedding Video Editing. How long?

One question we are often asked is How long does it take to edit?

We generally say between 6-8 weeks turn around.

Why so long?

Well, it’s not really a long time. To turn your wedding video around in this time is quite quick. Diamond Films are a small team and are full time. So in between the editing we are running a day to day business too. Phone calls, questions, website updates, finances etc etc. Oh, and lunch!

When we return from filming your wedding the tapes are downloaded onto our hard drives. The tapes are 60 minute tapes and if you take a Centenary Package for example we can end up with around 10 tapes from 2-3 cameras. The tapes are downloaded in real time so that is 10 hours of studio time watching the tapes as they download, taking notes for the edit.

We do not edit one wedding, then the next, then the next. We usually edit 3 or 4 at the same time. We find this is the best way for us as when we complete a particular scene we close that edit down and continue with another wedding. (Some scenes, Morning Preperations for example, can take hours, sometimes days to complete!) After a day or two we return to your wedding edit with a fresh mind and continue where we left off. This way of editing gives us dedicated time slots to each customer without rushing to finish the film.

Some companies we know take up to a year to deliver their customers film. Others can take a day or two. It all depends on how busy the company is and also how much care, creativity and complex the film is.

We finished a last dance sequence a few weeks back and the effects we used in the edit were so complex the 5 minute first dance took nearly 2 hours to render. (Render is the time it takes for the computer to add the effects such as colour correction, slow motion etc to the final edit).

See the clip on our site explaining the editing process. http://www.diamondfilms.co.uk/wedding-video-samples/editing-process.html

So your wedding video on average takes between 6-8 weeks to complete.
